ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025: Trophy Tour Kicks Off

With just 50 days to go until the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, cricket legends Mithali Raj and Yuvraj Singh joined Indian stars Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues in Mumbai to launch the tournament’s Trophy Tour and spark excitement for the global event. Hosted by ICC Chairman Jay Shah and featuring ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta, the star-studded event marked a pivotal moment for women’s cricket as India prepares to host its first women’s global cricket tournament since 2016.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, set to be held in India and Sri Lanka, will feature eight top teams—Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka—competing in a round-robin format. This marks India’s fourth time hosting the prestigious event, following editions in 1978, 1997, and 2013.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah emphasized the tournament’s significance: “The return of the Women’s Cricket World Cup to India is a defining moment for the sport. This world-class event will elevate women’s cricket globally, and today’s discussions with current and former players are vital for shaping its future.”

The Mumbai event featured dynamic panel discussions, where cricket icons shared insights on growing the women’s game, inspiring fans, and fostering innovation. Shah added, “We’re committed to sustaining the upward momentum of women’s cricket, and this tournament will be a game-changer.”

The launch coincided with the start of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour, designed to build anticipation across host cities, including Delhi and Mumbai. Fans can follow the journey on the dedicated @icctrophytour Instagram channel, with the trophy visiting iconic landmarks and engaging communities. A key highlight is the school legacy program, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and ICC will partner to bring students to World Cup matches, inspiring the next generation of cricket fans.

As preparations intensify, the World Cup promises unforgettable moments for players and fans alike. “I’m confident the teams will have an incredible experience in India and Sri Lanka,” Shah said, extending his best wishes to the competing nations. With its rich cricketing heritage and passionate fanbase, India is poised to deliver a tournament that will further cement women’s cricket as a global force.
