As the countdown to the 2025 Dakar Rally begins, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team is all set to take the stage in Saudi Arabia. With a star-studded lineup comprising Kevin Benavides, Luciano Benavides, and Daniel Sanders, the team is poised for another shot at glory in the RallyGP class. Scheduled to kick off on January 3, the event promises 12 grueling stages across nearly 8,000 kilometers, testing the mettle of even the most seasoned riders.
Two-time Dakar champion Kevin Benavides enters the 2025 edition with a renewed sense of purpose. Despite a challenging 2024 season plagued by injuries, Kevin has emerged stronger after months of rigorous training and recovery. The Argentinian rider is determined to chase his third Dakar title, leveraging his years of experience and a relentless drive to win.
“My training has been really positive. I’ve balanced gym workouts, cycling, and recovery time with extensive hours on my bike. I’ve learned the importance of staying fit and riding smart to avoid injuries. I’m excited to race alongside this amazing team, especially with Luciano, and can’t wait to get started in January!”
Luciano Benavides: Eyeing the Top Step
Luciano Benavides, the reigning 2023 FIM Rally-Raid World Champion, brings his championship mindset to the Dakar Rally. After overcoming a leg injury in mid-2024, Luciano has invested significant effort in preparing physically and mentally for the challenge ahead. A multiple Dakar stage winner, he’s aiming for nothing less than the top of the podium.
Luciano Benavides on his approach:
“Testing has been great, and I feel ready for the big one! I’ve been training extensively in the deserts of Argentina, Chile, and America. Dakar is a long race, and staying focused is key. My goal is to be competitive every day and bounce back from any setbacks. I’m ready to give it my all!”
Daniel Sanders: Riding High on Momentum
Australian rider Daniel Sanders enters the 2025 Dakar Rally with a recent victory at the Rallye du Maroc under his belt. With past Dakar stage wins and a strong eighth-place finish in the last edition, Sanders is brimming with confidence. His focus is clear: to put KTM back on the top step of the podium.
“The training in America was excellent, and I feel more comfortable on the bike after Morocco. Physically, I’m in great shape, and the team has done an incredible job fine-tuning the bike. I’m determined to start the year strong and give my best in every stage. This Dakar is going to be intense, but I’m ready for the challenge!”
The Dakar Rally is renowned for its unforgiving terrain, unpredictable weather, and grueling marathon stages. The 2025 edition will push riders to their limits, with a tough first week featuring both chrono and marathon stages. The Red Bull KTM team’s robust preparation, coupled with their riders’ determination, positions them as strong contenders for the title.
